Job Description

We are seeking a high-energy, customer-focused CAD Technician to join our Team.  The ideal candidate must be driven, detail oriented, and possess excellent oral & written communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·Responsible for working with the sales and estimating team for completion of preliminary system shop drawings and final as-built drawings to include system design, calculations, submittals, O&M’s and other related documents as required by the customer.

·Participate in site surveys and pre-bid walk through as needed to determine scope of job, which includes system and project requirements nationally.

·Participate in customer information gathering to determine design requirements of the client and the system.

·Prepare and review plans, preliminary layouts, detailed drawings from field and engineering notes, sketches and/or other mark-ups, ensuring all CAD standards and in-house standards are utilized.

·Converts approved design development drawings into installation/bid drawings incorporating design change, point-to-point wiring diagrams, field device details and other device details and/or layouts.

·Participates in phone/Teams meetings regarding design layouts, conduit drawings, installation requirements and questions.

·Collaborates with project management on installation preparation questions and requirements.

·Prepares take offs from plans and drawings for estimating process.

·Participate in pre-and/or post sales projects in coordination with sales and estimating.

·Maintain project drawing files, associated records and documentation in an orderly condition.

·Creates drawing templates and maintains CAD standards.

·Participate in creation of technical manuals, illustrations and installation documentation.

·Performs other duties, tasks or projects as requested by management.

 

Experience/Training/Education

·Associate Degree (AA) from a two-year college or technical school or 3 – 5 years related experience and/or training.

·Minimum of 2 years of experience in AutoCAD.

·Proficient in reading and understanding Construction, Architectural and Electrical layouts and diagrams.

·Low voltage design experience is highly recommended.

·Construction, Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler industry experience is preferred.

·Must be able to prioritize, manage multiple projects and problem solve.

·Excellent organization, follow-up, written and oral communication skills.

·Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

General: Proven ability to handle the following: manage multiple priorities, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently, organize and manage time well and must be able to communicate with management and co-workers in a professional manner. Self-Starter with follow through skills and attention to detail. Independent contributor that follows leadership’s directive.

Communication: Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to present ideas in clear and concise manner.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents, including drawing specifications and client communication.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, interpret data, contracts and client communications effectively. Ability to present information to upper management and/or co-workers in a logical manner. Strong command of the English language.

Teamwork/Team Player Skills: Strong commitment to teamwork with a proven track record of working in both team as well as independently.  Ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times.

Mathematical & Reasoning: Ability to understand calculations accurately, ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios to practical situations. The ability to exercise strong decision-making and critical thinking skills. Apply logical and analytical thinking in a practical manner when dealing resolving complex challenges.  

Computer: Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
