Job Description

Accepting applications for Experienced Parts and Service Associate

Job Highlights:

  • *Assist customers with part and accessory purchases for outdoor power equipment
  • *Check in and out equipment for service and repair
  • *Receiving and restocking parts and accessories
  • *Pull and deliver parts to technicians
  • *Being Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus
  • *Hours: Monday-Friday 7:45AM-5:00PM, Saturday 7:45AM-12:00PM,  Sunday Closed

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • The Associate works in the parts and service department, along with various places around the dealership. They will inspect equipment for mechanical problems and related repairs. S/he will be moving at least eight (8) to ten (10) hours a day. S/he will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, and mild exhaust fumes. S/he will be responsible for equipment testing and mild trouble shooting. The Associate will also work with a cash drawer, computer, commercial crews, cities/municipalities, along with homeowners. The Parts and Service Associate must be available to work a fixed schedule throughout the week with minimal interruptions.

We will strongly consider applicants based on:

  • Industry experience and knowledge
  • A familiarity of C-Systems Software
  • Familiarity with outdoor power equipment such as Stihl, Echo, Toro, Scag, eXmark, Honda, Red Max, Kawasaki, Kohler, etc.
  • Fluent in both English & Spanish
  • Experience from parts and/or service positions outside the industry
  • Previous employment or work with landscaping/arborist crews
  • Knowledge of small engine repair and troubleshooting

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet customers in a timely and friendly manner
  • Receive cash, credit card, and charge payments from customers, record the amount received, issue a receipt or ticket to customer
  • Compute customers bill using the stores computer system (C-Systems)
  • Apply refunds or issue credit memorandums
  • Identify customers equipment type, brand, model, and serial number
  • Be able to accurately determine the correct parts for each piece of equipment; predominately using PartSmart parts lookup program
  • Assign and record tag numbers to each customer's repair order
  • Communicate with service and parts customers to determine the nature of the mechanical problems
  • Obtain accurate customer and equipment data and input into computer
  • Safely start, run and test equipment
  • Advise customers on the care of their equipment and the value of maintaining their machines in accordance with manufacturers' specifications, using maintenance menus when applicable
  • Accurately assess condition of equipment as customer checks it in for service or repair. Looking for signs of additional wear or problems to be noted as equipment comes in and is checked out.
  • Indicate on repair order the exact problem the customer is having, instructions, and approved amount of estimate, making a special note of the main reason(s) the customer brought the equipment in (repair orders must be legible)
  • Provide estimates for labor and parts based off equipment condition; if the cost of service cannot be established during reception, leave open and contact the customer later by phone for approval
  • Establish estimated "time promised;" check with person responsible for work and parts required
  • Assist in unloading and loading equipment into service area and transport it to the technicians
  • Be a second contact for following up progress of each repair order at scheduled call times, regardless of changes; contact customers regarding any changes in estimate or time promised
  • Handle telephone inquiries
  • Demonstrate equipment to customer and answer any questions; perform demonstration on proper starting and running techniques
  • Be responsible for quality control, to ensure that work is completed as requested and to reduce comebacks
