Kitchen – Pastry Cook
The Pastry Cook will efficiently prepare and cook food according to menu specifications and work in collaboration with our Pastry Chef.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and prepare all baked goods and pastry items required for the Crossroads Café, the Red House Tavern, and Events.
- Works in collaboration with the Pastry Chef and Executive Chef
- Assists in planning and executing the menu of desserts and pastries to complement savory items.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients, while demonstrating skills in baking pastris, deserts, cakes, cookies, sweets, and pies.
- Maintains overall sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards for food preparation areas, cooking services, and dishes and utensils, adhering to food industry regulations.
- Maintains regular attendance in compliance with the hotel’s/restaurant’s standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the restaurant.
- Wears appropriate required uniform and during all scheduled shifts.
- Performs all other duties assigned from time to time.
- Approaches all encounters with guests and team members in an attentive, friendly, courteous and professional manner.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn food-handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
- Proven experience in working as a Baker or Pastry Cook.
- Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Good knowledge of pastry arts and ingredients.
- Confident culinary techniques and skills.
- Diligent and meticulous. Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good sense of planning and preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently and quickly.
- Must be able to work well alone and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.
- Must be able to work at least 5 days a week
Education and Experience:
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred.
- Must have 2 or more years of experience as a pastry cook, baker, or similar.
- Creative ability in designing, decorating, and filling confectionary.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work early mornings, nights and holidays.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Physically able to stand for long hours.
