Executive Chef - The Arnold House

REPORTS TO: Managing Director

COMPENSATION: $65,000-$85,000/year, depending on experience; eligible for annual performance bonus

HOURS PER WEEK: Full Time

DAYS REQUIRED: Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays

The Arnold House is a lively 16-room Catskills getaway located on Shandelee Mountain, near the quaint town of Livingston Manor. With our Tavern, Barn and Greenhouse, expansive grounds, new outdoor pool, and hiking trails and access to the area’s storied outdoor activities our mission is to treat our guests to the comfort and relaxation of casual country living. The Arnold House is host to dozens of weddings, corporate retreats, and public events throughout the year. We pride ourselves in creating lasting memories with epic cheese boards, dance parties, and brunches.

Who You Are:


Do you have experience leading a back of house team at a busy restaurant? Did you have success in teaching and mentoring novice cooks? Are you able to build and retain a badass team? Are you able to step out of the kitchen and charm guests? Does coming up with themed and event menus get you excited? Are all your invoices and receipts submitted on time, every time? Have you had to make difficult business decisions and have learned from them?

The Arnold House team is entering 2024 celebrating its’ 10th year of existence. In the past decade, the property’s bold ambition has not wavered and we have balanced becoming a mainstay in the community, a warm place to come for Half-Off Wednesdays, with continued innovation when it comes to our guest and event offerings. The team is made up of folks who are obsessed with details, exceptional quality, great communication, and creating unforgettable memories for our guests, especially on their special days.


What You’ll Do:


  • Be a hands-on leader - walk the entire property daily, if not multiple times a day, correcting anything that is out of place (including sweeping, cleaning, organizing, rearranging, etc.) and ensuring every space is following Foster Supply brand standards.
  • Oversee the kitchen team and ensure the consistent quality of prepared menu items.
  • Prepare food.
  • Manage product ordering.
  • Recruit, hire, and train new kitchen team members.
  • Prepare weekly schedules for the kitchen teams.
  • Manage team performance, in part by administering regular performance reviews.
  • Continuously review and improve kitchen operations and efficiencies.
  • Work closely with the front of house team and lead on continuous improvement in service.
  • Work closely with the Guest Services team to ensure in house guest requests and amenities are honored.
  • Drive maximum cover counts for each service and expect 150+ covers on busy days.
  • Interact with guests and act as a point of contact for any escalations or special requests from dining guests.
  • Develop menus, including regular special menus for private and public events.
  • Achieve food and labor cost goals and work with the Controller to review and manage P/Ls.
  • Work closely with the Owner to ensure the restaurant is aligned with Foster Supply’s overall culinary goals.
  • Work closely with the Facilities Manager to swiftly address any maintenance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety protocols.
  • Maintain an exceptional level of cleanliness in all FOH and BOH areas.
  • Work with the Sales Team and the Event Team to plan and execute special events.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to effectively promote the restaurant.
  • Other special projects and tasks as required

839 Shandelee Road, Livingston Manor, NY 12758

Work will be performed usually indoors, with some regular outdoor work, including occasional outdoor event service. Some restaurant spaces may be hot (kitchen) or involve other potential hazards such as hot plates/food/beverages and slippery floors.


Physical Requirements:


This position can be physically demanding. Walking up and down stairs may be required. Requires the ability to be on one’s feet for long periods at a time. Carrying/balancing food and beverage. Must be able to lift 50lbs.

This Foster Supply Hospitality property is pet-friendly. FSH team members are expected to be able to work in an environment that regularly hosts dogs and other pets.
