We are seeking a talented and energetic Senior Systems Engineer – Systems Engineer IV.  You will join a Systems Engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. The System Engineer will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USAF. The System Engineer will lead and support several working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolving and identifying risks, requirement gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes.

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force's Space and Missiles System Center. We support the Air Force's acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation's warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

This El-Segundo/Colorado Springs based position is a full-time, salaried position.  It is a requirement that the selected candidate must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance and be a US Citizen.       

SEIS participates in the E-Verify program to validate authorization to work in the United States.

Role and Responsibilities

·       Communicate with the team and the customers for inputs and build scenarios for satellite usage.

·       Identify area of improvement of customers' current operations.

·       Build MBSE model of the future satellite system using SysML standard and produce as needed diagrams, such as DoDAF views.

·       Build presentation slide deck utilizing pictorials and MBSE models.

·       Contribute creating Concept of Operations for future system.

·       Author Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and creating presentation slides.

·       Analyze data with Excel.

·       Applying MBSE tools and techniques to capture system architectures, functions, services, interfaces, requirements, and concepts of operation to establish and maintain the baseline system design.

·       Supporting requirements allocations and functional decompositions to hardware, software, and lower level components of the system(s) within the models.

·       Integrating models from disparate stakeholders into a cohesive end-to-end environment to enable end-to-end architectural definition.

·       Production of model views to support program milestones and documentation.

·       Applying Simulation to the Mission Architecture via Cameo’s Simulation Toolkit.

·       Help to establish best modeling practices along with the Government to better enforce SysML modeling standards and best practices.

·       Enable the generation of systems engineering documentation for requirements, ICDs, systems design, CONOPS, verification and test.

·       Collaborating with prime contractors, other team contractors, government stakeholders, and members of the U.S. Space Force.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·       One of the following:

  • ·  STEM Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) years or more of related experience.
  • ·  STEM Master’s degree with seven (7) years or more of related experience.
  • ·  STEM PhD degree with three (3) years or more of related experience.

·       10 years of engineering experience.

·       Knowledge in space industry.

·       Enterprise Architect experience.

·       Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.

·       SysML experience.

·       Current INCOSE CSEP certification or ability achieve one.

·       Great customer service and team player.

·       Experience working across space and ground segment organizations to coordinate and identify system requirements and key performance parameters to ensure end-to-end mission performance requirements are met.

·       Experience with DoDAF and architecture development.

·       Experience with DS Catia Cameo, and familiar with IBM Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or other comparable MBSE tools.

·       Must be a US Citizen.

·       Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.

·       Department of Defense (DOD) Experience.

Preferred Skills

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.

·       5+ years of demonstrated experience working with Space Force/DoD customers in an acquisition environment, with space and/or ground systems.

·       Experience working across space and ground segment organizations to coordinate and identify system requirements and key performance parameters to ensure end-to-end mission performance requirements are met.

·       Experience with DS Catia Cameo and familiar with MBSE tools.

·       Attention to detail.

·       Problem solving.

·       Self-motivation.

·       Microsoft office, primarily Excel and PowerPoint.

·       Experience working in an Agile team/framework.
