- Equipment manufacturer in the Northwest suburbs is expanding and is hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager

- Salary range is based on experience and education: 100K – 130K
- Work with the Engineering Manager and Operations teams to improve output for the facility through engineering changes, upgrades, turnarounds and overall improvement of the engineering department
- Take ownership of production, assembly, tooling, test & calibration where required
- Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings
- Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budgets
- Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment
- Drive safety projects
- Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment
- Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
- Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity
- Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity
- Follow LEAN principles to improve processes, increase efficiencies and decrease downtime
- Upgrade the tool room as needed
- Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and provide technical training and blueprints for employees.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical bottlenecks
Requirements:
- BS in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical, Industrial or related
- 3 – 7+ years’ experience in project engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering roles
- Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma is required; prefer certifications
- Experience with Design preferred
- Experience with SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and/or other 3D CAD modeling software is a plus
- Must have experience with manufacturing, prefer experience metals, aerospace, automotive, equipment, punch presses, laser cutting, metal fabrication, welding, forging, die cutting and related environments preferred
- Experience with PFMEA, time studies, new equipment, proposals, and related
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
