Job Description

EON Consulting, LLC (EON) is a Managed Service Provider (MSP) and IT consulting firm based in Denton, TX. Our team is responsible for the day-to-day support, proactive maintenance, and long-term strategic planning for the network infrastructure and IT assets of hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses both in the DFW area and across the country. Our clients trust us to serve as their IT department (as an extension of their team), and we’re looking for an additional team member who will bring new skill sets and knowledge to our table.

This new team member will be responsible for ensuring our clients’ technical needs and overall expectations are met or exceeded and will be trained and required to effectively support and troubleshoot Microsoft environments including both workstation and server systems as well as cloud-based solutions both remotely (from our office) and onsite at client locations (local travel only). This includes the drive, initiative, and capacity to:

  • Identify, research, and resolve incoming issues and/or questions related to computer systems, end-user software and hardware, network/internet connectivity, server services, remote desktop services sessions, etc. across multiple client networks independently and in a timely manner
  • Document, track, and monitor ongoing issues with limited supervision
  • Support Windows desktop and server operating systems, cloud-based productivity applications (Microsoft 365, etc.), and macOS systems (on occasion)
  • Maintain systems and client environment documentation on an ongoing basis
  • Assist in the deployment of new equipment (servers, firewalls, managed switches, etc.)
  • Maintain client systems, applications, security, and network configurations
  • Coordinate with and support other team members on more complex projects
  • Communicate with clients frequently to ensure understanding of project/task requirements including status updates and develop resolution/implementation strategy
  • Support our management team in nurturing existing and future client relationships
  • Support network infrastructure such as firewalls, switches, and wireless access points
  • Perform proactive maintenance on servers, workstations, firewalls, and other network infrastructure
  • Review alerts and notifications generated by our remote monitoring and management (RMM) systems and resolve accordingly
  • Perform network printer configuration and implementation
  • Monitor backup systems and perform data recovery when needed

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or Associate degree with relevant certification(s) and/or extensive direct experience
  • 2-5+ years IT Support experience (computer, server, and/or network troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently troubleshoot technical problems
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Windows server and desktop operating systems
  • Knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, SMTP, vLANs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of server hardware and software
  • Knowledge of VOIP phone systems
  • Deep understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365
  • Positive attitude, timeliness, and willingness to learn
  • Experience with small-scale server/desktop virtualization (Hyper-V, etc.) preferred
  • General understanding of and the ability to install/troubleshoot mail systems (Exchange, Outlook, MX Records, SPF, DMARC, DKIM, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge and familiarity with the macOS X operating system
  • Basic understanding of iOS and Android Mobile Platforms
  • Firm understanding of basic network security best practices
  • Reliable transportation for onsite client visits (local)


Desired Skills & Experience

  • Managed Services Provider experience a plus (not required)
  • Microsoft Certification(s) a plus (not required)
  • A+ Certification(s) a plus (not required)
  • Cisco Certification(s) a plus (not required)
  • Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) Experience a plus (not required)
  • Experience with ConnectWise Automate, Kaseya VSA, or other RMM solution a plus (not required)
