Job Overview

As the Store Operations Manager, you will oversee the retail department managers, engaging the team in setting retail goals and executing thoughtful operation of the store. You will work closely with the Administrative Leadership Team and General Manager to analyze store-wide sales and labor goals and help set the tone for the organization.

Role & Responsibilities

  1. Daily Operations
    • Oversee and manage daily store operations, ensuring efficient and successful functioning of the entire facility
    • Coordinate and optimize staff scheduling to ensure excellent customer service during all operating hours.
    • Plan and schedule projects, including cleaning and physical inventory, to maintain operational efficiency.
    • Oversee merchandising strategies and promotional programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
    • Uphold exceptional customer service standards, training, and coaching staff in delivering outstanding service.
    • Embrace and demonstrate cooperative values, principles, and the mission of the Co-op.
  2. Personnel Management
    • · Provide supervision and guidance to department managers, fostering motivation, discipline, and clear communication.
    • Conduct regular manager meetings to review department performance and plan corrective actions as needed.
    • Support the hiring process, working closely with the Human Resource Manager to ensure timely and effective staff recruitment.
  3. Planning
    • Collaborate with department managers to set and meet retail sales goals.
    • Establish objectives for department sales, margins, net profit, and labor costs in collaboration with the General Manager.
    • Collaborate with the Pricing Coordinator to develop and implement effective pricing strategies for revenue optimization.

Qualifications

  • Strong management experience in a fast-paced, high-volume retail grocery establishment.
  • Familiarity with the natural foods industry and cooperative business model.
  • Excellent supervisory skills, including hiring, training, motivation, and corrective action.
  • Background in merchandising with knowledge of current trends in the natural foods industry.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and interpreting financial statements.
  • Effective prioritization and delegation abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and accountability skills.
  • Experience developing efficient systems and procedures for retail operations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear directions.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs.
