Job Description

Chief Executive Officer

Greater NYC Area / Amenable to Commute-Travel to NYC Area

Tuesday’s Children fosters lifespan post-traumatic growth through a holistic, community-based model. It provides healing and resilience for military families of the fallen and families affected by 9/11, turning pain into purpose while honoring their legacies. More than 50,000 people have been impacted by Tuesday’s Children. From the original service population of 9/11 survivors and responders, we have grown to address the families of those inspired by 9/11 to sacrifice their lives for our country: our military families of the fallen. Our successful model is built on three simple and powerful elements: Community, Life Skills and Resilience.

Our vision for Tuesday’s Children is an organization that is nationally known for helping families of the fallen turn pain into purpose. When a military family suffers a loss or the child of a 9/11 victim struggles with the ongoing trauma, they will turn to Tuesday’s Children to help them heal. Through our work, tens of thousands more families will flourish, with improved mental health, stable homes, and sustaining connections. Our impact is amplified through those families’ engagement with their communities—expanding the support and healing to others. For us to increase our impact over the next few years, we must address these five aspects: Scale, Awareness, Expertise, Virtuous Cycle and Measurable Impact.

By employing these five key elements, we will start the next chapter for Tuesday’s Children. We will become a truly national organization and a recognized leader in healing. We will be sustainable. We will remain the organization that meets families where they are and supports them on their resilience journey. We will help thousands more transform pain into purpose.

We seek a proven philanthropic leader whose career has been highlighted by a successful track record in multi-discipline development areas inclusive of major gifts, special events, corporate sponsorships, grants, and other nontraditional and innovative strategies. This leader has the ability to comfortably speak publicly, but just as nimbly meet one-on-one with military members, the families served, and donors and key stakeholders. This leader will have had experience working alongside both volunteer and staff leaders and will understand the unique dynamics of those relationships.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the gradual transition of Tuesday’s Children to a truly national nonprofit service organization. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications.

• Understanding The Nonprofit Organization & Environment

• Leadership

• Strategy Development

• Execution

• Performance

• Financial Management

• Human Capital Strategy

• Character

The salary range for this position annually is between $155-$165K and will be commensurable with experience. The Board of Directors will conduct an annual written performance review to be completed following the CEO’s employment anniversary. This review will be based on key performance indicators annually established by the Tuesday’s Children Board Chair in consultation with the full Board. These indicators will be finalized in conjunction with the annual operating plan and fiscal year budget development process.

The performance indicators may include management performance, the organization’s financial status, staff satisfaction, member satisfaction, outcomes of Tuesday’s Children programs and initiatives, including strategic planning and Board development, among other factors. Based upon the discretion of the Board and the overall financial health of Tuesday’s Children, successful performance against these key performance indicators may result in a salary increase or bonus. The comprehensive benefits package includes healthcare and a 403(B)-retirement savings plan. Tuesday’s Children observes twelve paid holidays each year and offers generous Paid Time Off.

Tuesday’s Children, in recognition of its responsibility to its employees, families, partners, and to the communities in which it operates, is committed to equality of opportunity. To this end, Tuesday’s Children’s policy is to comply with the laws, regulations, and orders that provide for and impose obligations on employers with respect to equal employment opportunity.
