We are currently looking for an Accountant to support our Accounting and Finance department by assisting in day-to-day activities including accounts organize, maintain and interpret financial records, provide audit and financial controls for federal contracts, prepare complex financial statements and reports, and set up unemployment and state tax. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. The right candidate will be an organized self-starter, eager to learn and able to work in an explosive growth environment.

Federal Government Cost Plus Contract and DCAA compliance experience a must. This is an onsite position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and preparing journal entries and/or other accounting transactions while ensuring general activity is processed in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers.
  • Review financial records including reports, vouchers, requisitions, journal entries, and other financial data for accuracy, completeness and conformance with established guidelines
  • Managing Income and expenditure accounts.
  • Compile, research and prepare statistical information for the Annual Comprehensive Reports
  • Generate and post invoices on a timely basis.
  • Receiving and recording vouchers, cash and checks.
  • Interacting with management, customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Preparing, reviewing, submitting, and briefing on various ad-hoc reports, summaries, and other information to members of management both internally and client representatives.
  • Managing accounts payable using accounting software and other programs.
  • Handling accounts payable for separate entities and vendors.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors.
  • Ensuring bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
  • Processing due invoices for payments and ensuring payments are received on-time. 
  • Comparing purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges.
  • Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling books of accounts.
  • Verify timekeeping records and consult employees about any discrepancies.
  • Process payroll and ensure employees are paid on a timely basis. 
  • Set up state and local tax ID’s and unemployment for remote hiring.  
  • Record payroll data in our accounting systems system and reconcile payroll data. 
  • Alter employee tax status as needed as well as any information about withholding.
  • Prepare manual checks for distribution to employees.
  • Summarizing and preparing credit card statement expenses.
  • Assist with employee reimbursements.
  • Interpret federal legislation, policy, and regulations related to accounts payables and receivables. Performs special audits, assessments, studies, or reviews to determine reliability and accuracy of accounting reports and financial statements
  • Make recommendations for process improvement. 

Education Requirements & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or another business-related degree.
  • 1 to 6  years' experience in accounting, finance or bookkeeping.   

Essential Capabilities:

  • DCAA experience a must
  • Experience with Federal Cost Plus Contracts a must
  • Ability to occasionally work extra hours to meet deadlines 
  • Expert in the use of the QuickBooks, MS Office suite
  • Strong Excel skills a must
  • Ability to obtain government security clearance, requiring US citizenship
